Basics: how the game works

Clash Of Guild is an island strategy game. You are a captain with a small coastal city. You grow the city, build an army, trade with other players and can join a clan. Everything follows one loop.

The game loop

  • Your buildings produce resources every hour, even while the game is closed.
  • You spend resources to build and upgrade. A higher Town Hall opens new plots and new buildings.
  • A bigger economy lets you train an army, research stronger units, trade and found colonies on other islands.
  • Your army defends the city, drives off pirates and can plunder or occupy other players' cities.

The resources

There are seven resources. Gold, Wood and Grain are made in every city. Iron, Marble, Livestock and Oil are specialty resources: you make them only on a matching island, or get them by trade and by shipping them from a colony. Gems are a separate special currency used for speed-ups, extra builders and more. See the "Resources and production" and "Gems, cards and Shop" sections.

Builders and the warehouse

Every construction needs a free builder, so the number of builders is the number of things you can build at once. Every resource also has a warehouse limit. When a resource reaches its limit, its production stops. Spend it, or build and upgrade a Warehouse.

Your first steps

  1. On the welcome screen enter your captain name and city name, then tap "Set sail".
  2. Tap an empty plot marked "+" and build a Treasury, a Lumberjack, a Farm and a Warehouse.
  3. Tap the Town Hall and upgrade it. A higher Town Hall unlocks more of everything.
  4. Follow the quest strip. Quests give resources, gems and speed-up cards.
  5. Use speed-up cards on slow constructions.
  6. Open the Island tab to meet your neighbors.

The quest strip and the tabs

The quest strip sits at the bottom left, just above the tabs. It shows your next goal. Tap "Go" to be taken there. When the goal is done, tap the strip to claim the reward. Beside it you find the Clan, War center and Telegraph buttons. The four tabs at the bottom are:

  • City: your town. Build, upgrade and train here.
  • Island: your neighbors, the island facilities, and the villages you can attack or help.
  • World: the map of all islands and the ships moving on it.
  • Profile: your name, account, server, quick access to quests, ranking and friends, and Settings.

Tip: drag to move the view, pinch or double-tap to zoom.

Tip: tap the builder pill at the top left to see your builders and running constructions.

Account, sign-in and servers

Your progress lives in a village on the game server. Your account is the way back into that village. Each platform starts a little differently.

Signing in

  • Phones (Android and iPhone): tap "Set sail" and a guest account is created for your device. No password is needed. On Android, Google Play Games recognizes you silently.
  • Web: you must sign up or sign in with Google, Apple or Telegram. Signing up and signing in are the same button: if no village exists it is created, otherwise you enter it.
  • Telegram Mini App: you are signed in silently with your Telegram identity.

Telegram on the web: tap the Telegram button, then scan the QR code with your phone or open Telegram on the computer. In the bot tap Start, then Confirm. The bot may give you a short code to type into the game. Only confirm requests you started yourself.

Link your account

A guest account lives only on your device. If you lose the phone, you lose the village. Open the Profile tab and find the Account card. Tap "Link with Google", "Link with Apple", "Link with Telegram" or Google Play Games (Android). The first time a permanent sign-in is linked, you get a one-time security reward in gems; the amount is shown in the game. Removing and linking again does not pay twice.

New phone or device

If the new device is tied to Google Play Games or iCloud, your village may open by itself. Otherwise open the game, tap "I already have a village" and sign in with the method you linked. If nothing was ever linked, the village cannot be recovered.

One identity, one village

Every sign-in method belongs to exactly one village, and villages are never merged. If you choose a sign-in that already has a village, you see both villages side by side and pick "Switch to that village" or "Stay here". The village you leave is not deleted. On the web use "Sign out"; on phones use "Switch village".

Servers

The Profile tab has a Server card showing the world you play in and when it opened. "Switch server" shows the list, but moving to another server is not available yet.

Deleting your account

Go to Profile, open the Account card and tap "Delete account". You confirm twice and type your village name. The village is then kept for a waiting period (the window shows the days). To cancel, sign in during that time and tap "Restore my account". Silent sign-ins such as the device or Play Games will not bring it back by themselves. When the wait ends, the village is gone for good.

Tip: link an account on your first day.

Settings and notifications

Open the Profile tab and tap Settings. Changes are saved right away.

Language

The game opens in your language by itself. It looks at your saved choice first, then Telegram's language (in the Mini App), then your device or browser language, and finally English. To change it, go to Profile › Settings › Language and tap a language. The game switches at once. Languages marked Beta are still being proofread.

Sound and vibration

Sound effects, Sea and ambient sound, and Vibration (not on the web) each have their own switch.

Notifications

The main switch is "Phone notifications" ("Browser notifications" on the web). Under it you can turn each type on or off:

  • Construction & storage: a building is done, builders are idle, a warehouse is full.
  • War & army: expeditions arrive and return, attacks on you, pirate raids, training and research finish.
  • Clan: joint attacks and clan wars.
  • Market & trade: merchant ships, sales, goods waiting in the harbor.
  • Telegraph: a message from another player.
  • Announcements: news and events from the game team.

In a browser only announcements can arrive. Quiet hours for war alerts are in the War center; see "Defense and protection".

Appearance

Light by time of day, Building names (the plates over buildings), Reduce motion, and Battery saver (less decoration) for older phones.

Game

Pirate raids: switch it off to stop new raids. Pirates you have already seen still come. "How to play?" opens a short introduction.

Save data

Export save copies a code (it starts with ADC1) to the clipboard. Import save lets you paste a code. Keep codes private. Reset game deletes everything and cannot be undone.

About and blocked players

Privacy, Terms, Community rules and Support open the game's web pages. To unblock a player go to Profile › Settings › Blocked players.

Tip: leave "War & army" on. It is the one that warns you about attacks.

Resources and production

The game has seven resources. Tap any resource at the top of the screen to see how much you have, the warehouse limit, the hourly production, the upkeep and the net result.

Basic resources

Gold, Wood and Grain are made in every city. The Treasury makes gold, the Lumberjack makes wood and the Farm makes grain. The Town Hall adds a little of each.

Specialty resources and island types

Every island has one of seven types: Iron, Gold, Marble, Forest, Livestock, Farming or Oil. Each type has a specialist building that you can build only on that island: Iron Mine, Gold Mine, Marble Quarry, Sawmill, Ranch, Great Farm and Oil Well. The Gold Mine, Sawmill and Great Farm make far more than the basic buildings. Iron, Marble, Livestock and Oil can only be made on their own island. To get the ones your island lacks, found a colony on a matching island and ship the goods, or buy them at the Market. See "Colonies and moving cities", "Harbor, fleet and shipments" and "Market and trading".

What each resource is for

Gold, wood and grain pay for most buildings and for soldiers. Specialty resources appear in later upgrades and in stronger units: iron for Musketeers and Cannons, marble for Catapults, livestock for cavalry, oil for Cannons, Zeppelins and the upkeep of ships.

Hourly production and upkeep

Production runs every hour, also while the game is closed (for a limited time), until the warehouse is full. Higher building levels produce more. The right plot zone and the island facilities add bonuses. Soldiers cost upkeep every hour in gold, grain or oil. Net = production minus upkeep. If a resource runs out, part of your idle army is disbanded, so watch the "time to run out" line. See "Army and training".

Protected storage

A part of each warehouse is protected: attackers and pirates can never take it. It grows with your Warehouse levels and the Town Hall. The Warehouse window shows the protected amount now and at the next level.

Island facilities

The Island tab shows two shared facilities, the Island Mine and the Logging Camp. Everyone on the island can donate gold to upgrade them. Each level raises production in every city on the island: the Mine boosts the island's specialty resource and the Camp boosts wood. Donations cannot be undone, and a facility stops taking gold at its top level.

Tip: spend or ship out what is close to the warehouse limit before you leave the game.

Town Hall

The Town Hall is the heart of your city. Its level decides how far the rest of the city can grow. It has 25 levels.

What a higher Town Hall gives

  • Higher building levels: no building can be higher than the Town Hall.
  • New plots: the city has 26 building plots. Some are open at the start and the rest open at set Town Hall levels.
  • New buildings: many buildings appear only at a certain level, for example the Barracks, Army Camp, Market, Clan Castle, University and Temple. A locked building shows the level it needs.
  • Colony rights: the Town Hall, together with the Clan Castle, decides how many colonies you may found.
  • Builders: a more advanced Town Hall lets you own more builders.
  • Storage: it gives base warehouse space and extra space for gold and grain at every level. It also makes a little of each basic resource.
  • War: newbie protection ends, and pirates start coming, at set levels.

Look tiers

Every five levels the Town Hall and all other buildings change their look. The Town Hall's tiers are Town Manor, Town Palace, Golden-Domed Hall, Palace and Imperial Palace. Your title grows with them, up to Sultan of the Isles at the top level.

How to upgrade

  1. In the City tab, tap the Town Hall.
  2. Read what the next level unlocks.
  3. Tap Upgrade. It costs resources and uses one builder.

Big levels take a long time, so use speed-up cards or ask your clan for help. The Walls button in the same window upgrades your walls; see "Defense and protection".

The live table below shows the cost and the time of every Town Hall level.

Tip: make sure your warehouse can hold the cost of the next level, or you can never pay it. Upgrade the Warehouse first if needed.

Buildings

Every building has one job. Tap a building to see what it does and to upgrade it. Many buildings unlock at a certain Town Hall level. Some can be built only once, and specialty buildings only on the matching island. The table below lists the maximum level of every building and the cost and time of every level.

Always in your city

  • Town Hall: the heart of the city; see "Town Hall".
  • Harbor: ships, shipments and colonies. It stands on the shore and cannot be built or moved.

Economy

  • Treasury: collects taxes and makes gold.
  • Lumberjack: makes wood.
  • Farm: makes grain, the food of your soldiers.
  • Warehouse: raises the storage limit of every resource and the protected part.

Specialty (matching island only)

  • Iron Mine, Gold Mine, Marble Quarry, Sawmill, Ranch, Great Farm and Oil Well: each makes one resource, much more than the basic buildings. You can build only the one that matches your island.

Military

  • Barracks: trains Swordsmen, Archers and Musketeers. One per city.
  • Stable: trains Cavalry and Horse Archers. One per city.
  • Siege Workshop: builds Catapults and Cannons. One per city.
  • Shipyard: builds warships and Zeppelins. One per city, on the shore plot.
  • Army Camp: houses your army, raises the population limit and lowers upkeep. You can build several.
  • Archer Tower: shoots at attackers every round, protects your ranged troops and hits airships hard.
  • Intelligence Agency: trains spies. Only the one in your capital counts.

Social and science

  • Market: opens merchants and the clan market.
  • Clan Castle: runs clan aid, donations and joint attacks.
  • University: researches stronger units.
  • Temple: your daily prayer for blessings.

Tip: tap a locked building in the list to see which Town Hall level opens it.

Harbor · Maximum level: 20

Ships carry goods from here to colonies and clan members. Found only in the city, not on the island.

The tables show this version's default values. The guide inside the game always shows the current values.

Construction and upgrades

Build something new

  1. In the City tab, tap an empty plot marked "+".
  2. Pick a building. Each card shows how many you already have, and a locked building shows the Town Hall level it needs.
  3. Check the cost and tap Build. The cost is paid at once and a builder starts working.

Upgrade

Tap a building and tap Upgrade. A building cannot go above the Town Hall level. Each level costs more and takes longer, and the look changes every five levels. The window stays open so you can speed the job up right away.

Builders

You can run as many constructions as you have free builders. The pill at the top left shows idle builders and running jobs. The number of builders you may own depends on your Town Hall, and you pay gems with "Add builder" to get one. Builders are shared by all your cities.

Construction queue (premium)

When builders or resources are short, tap "Queue" to put the job on a waiting list. When a builder is free and you can pay, the next job starts by itself, even while you are offline. Adding is free; the price is paid when the job starts. You can reorder or remove jobs. A job that is only waiting for resources holds its place; a job waiting for something else is skipped. The queue needs premium and pauses when premium ends.

Cancel, demolish, move

  • Cancel stops a running job and gives back a part of the cost.
  • Demolish empties the plot and returns nothing. It is not possible while the building is busy.
  • Move puts a building on another open plot, or swaps it with another building. It costs gems. The Shipyard cannot be moved.

Plot zones

A building gets a bonus only in the matching zone:

  • Wall district: Archer Towers are stronger.
  • Army district: Army Camps hold more people, and the Barracks, Stable and Siege Workshop train faster.
  • Production district: production buildings make more.
  • Town center: Warehouses hold more and the Treasury makes more gold.
  • Shore: the Shipyard plot.

Tap "Show zones" in the new-building window, or press Z on a computer, to colour the plots.

Speed it up

With a Clan Castle, tap "Ask clan for help"; every clanmate who helps shortens the job. Or tap "Speed up" and pick a speed-up card. A card removes its time from the job, and if it is longer than what is left, the job simply finishes. Short cards come from quests; the 2, 4 and 8 hour cards are bought with gems. Gold cannot finish a job.

Army and training

Soldiers defend your city and fight for you. Each one costs resources to train and upkeep every hour. The game has 11 units.

Where each unit is trained

  • Barracks: Swordsman, Archer, Musketeer.
  • Stable: Cavalry, Horse Archer.
  • Siege Workshop: Catapult, Cannon.
  • Shipyard: Raider Galley, Fortress Galleon, Fire Dragon, Zeppelin.

Stronger units need a higher building level, and some also need research at the University (see "Research at the University").

How to train

  1. Tap the training building and open its Training tab.
  2. Pick a unit card (a locked card tells you what is missing), choose how many, and tap Train.
  3. Orders finish one after another. Cancelling gives back part of the cost.

A higher building level and the Army district make training faster.

Population

Your army has a population limit, shown as "Army population used / limit". The Army Camp raises it most, and other military buildings add a little. Units in training count too. When the limit is full you cannot train more.

Upkeep

Every unit eats gold, grain or oil each hour, and units on a campaign cost extra. Army Camp levels lower the upkeep. If a resource runs out, the idle army in your city is disbanded evenly across unit types. If that is not enough, missions end: blockades, occupations and stationed help first, marching attacks last. Returning troops become idle. A warning shows how long you have left.

Dismiss

To remove units yourself, open War center › Army and tap Disband. The training cost is not refunded, but the upkeep drops.

Unit classes

Each unit stands in a battle line: Front (Swordsman), Flank (Cavalry), Long range (Archer, Horse Archer, Musketeer), Artillery (Catapult, Cannon), Air (Zeppelin) and Sea (the three warships). Land units fight on land, ships only at sea, and Zeppelins in both. The table below lists every unit's strength, health, cost, upkeep and training building. For who beats whom, see "Live battles, rounds and stances".

Research at the University

The University makes your units stronger. Research belongs to your account, so the units in all your cities get stronger.

Tiers

Every unit has four tiers. Tier 1 unlocks the unit. Tiers 2 to 4 add attack and health, raise the training cost a little and give the unit a new look: plain, iron, bronze, gold. Upkeep does not change. Each card shows your progress, for example Research 2/4.

New units

Five units are free from the start: Swordsman, Archer, Cavalry, Catapult and Raider Galley. The other six (Horse Archer, Cannon, Musketeer, Zeppelin, Fortress Galleon and Fire Dragon) are unlocked by researching tier 1. To train them you also need a high enough level of their training building.

How to research

  1. Build a University. It unlocks at a certain Town Hall level.
  2. Open it and tap the Research tab.
  3. Pick a unit. The card shows the next tier, the cost, the time and the University level it needs.
  4. Tap the research button.

Good to know

  • The cost is paid from the city where the University stands.
  • Only one research runs at a time. You can use speed-up cards on it.
  • Higher tiers need a higher University level. The Musketeer needs a fairly high University level even for tier 1.
  • Cost grows with the unit's training cost and with the tier, and research time grows with every tier. The exact numbers are on each card.
  • Spy research is done here too and shares the same line; see "Spies and intelligence".

Tip: research the units you train most first. A stronger Swordsman helps in every city at once.

Attacking: plan and send

To attack another player you plan an expedition. You need soldiers and, to cross the sea, Cargo Ships from your Harbor.

Choose a target

  1. Open the Island tab and tap another village. "Find target" lists attackable villages on this island and the three nearest ones.
  2. On the village card tap "Plan attack".

You cannot attack your own cities, your clanmates, cities under newbie protection or on vacation, or a city you occupy. An attack must also reach a minimum size.

The planner

The first question is "What do you want to do?"

  • Plunder: take goods and come home. Land and air units go on cargo ships.
  • Occupy: keep the city and its production. Land and air units; at least one land unit must survive.
  • Blockade the harbor: close the port. Only warships and zeppelins, sent as a separate expedition.

The intent is applied by itself when you win. On the way you can switch between Plunder and Occupy. Then choose where the troops leave from, which units and how many. Cargo ships are picked for you. The planner also shows a forecast, the estimated losses, what you can carry, the arrival time and the extra upkeep. The army, the forecast and the losses appear only with a fresh garrison report, the lootable goods only with a fresh depot report; without one, the planner offers to send a spy.

The journey

On the same island your troops march. To another island, land troops sail on Cargo Ships, while warships and Zeppelins move on their own. The slowest ship sets the speed. You can recall an expedition that is still on its way from War center › Expeditions.

At the target

If both sides have warships, a sea battle comes first. If the defender still has a navy when you land, your troops land under fire: some are lost and the first round is weaker. Blockade the harbor first and the landing is free of losses. Then the land battle begins; see "Live battles, rounds and stances".

Loot

You take the smaller of what can be looted and what you can carry. Protected storage can never be taken. Marching soldiers carry little, while Cargo Ships carry a lot, so bring ships. Hitting the same target again soon gives less, and so does a much weaker target. With several attackers, loot is split by carrying capacity.

Protection

New players are protected: a city with a low Town Hall and a young account cannot be attacked. Your own protection ends when you attack, send a spy or free another player's city.

Tip: try your plan in the Battle simulator before you send it.

Live battles, rounds and stances

When an army arrives, a live battle starts. It is fought in rounds, one every few minutes (the window shows the length). The server fights the rounds, even if both players are offline. After each round both sides are told and can give orders.

Phases and the window

If ships are involved, the Sea battle comes first. The Siege (land) phase follows. It has a round limit that "Extend" can raise. Open the battle from the red War center badge or the banner on top. The window shows the balance of power, who is fighting, the battle log and the battle orders.

Stances

A stance takes effect from the next round.

  • Attacker: Assault (hit harder, lose more), Balanced, Cautious (hit less, lose less).
  • Defender: Sally (hit harder, lose more), Balanced, Take cover (hit less, lose less) and Keep.

Keep hides your army: only walls, towers and guards fight. If the walls fall the city is plundered, but your army survives. At sea Keep hides your ships, loses the sea battle and the harbor is blockaded.

Orders

  • Attacker: Extend adds rounds (limited); Retreat ends your part, with a small loss on land.
  • Defender: Stall delays the round (limited); Save goods ships goods away (not from a blockaded harbor); Train adds soldiers that join the next round.

Reinforcements and more attackers

Units that finish training or arrive join at the start of the next round. Each city has one battle: other attackers join the running one. They do not fight each other, damage is shared by hit points and loot by carrying capacity. Helpers fight beside the defender.

The end

A battle can end early: as soon as victory conditions are met after a round. Results are Victory, Repelled, Walls held (the round limit came while the walls stood) and Inconclusive siege (the walls fell but the city held).

Reports and tools

"Open report" shows the battle table: troops before, lost and power, grouped by battle line, plus every round. In War center › Army, "Battle simulator" tries any matchup with worst, expected and best luck, and "Bonuses" shows the damage multipliers. Examples: Swordsmen beat Cavalry, Cavalry beats Archers and siege, Musketeers bring down Zeppelins, Catapults break walls, and among ships Raider Galley beats Fire Dragon beats Fortress Galleon beats Raider Galley.

Defense and protection

You are warned when an attack is coming: in the game, by phone notification and on Telegram. Open War center › Defense to see incoming attacks. Archer Towers make the scout report more exact.

What defends your city

  • The army standing in the city.
  • Walls: they add hit points and, while they stand, cut the damage to your front line. An attacker must break them to win. Upgrade them with the Walls button in the Town Hall window.
  • Archer Towers: they shoot every round even with no soldiers, shield your ranged troops and hit airships hard. Put them in the Wall district.
  • City guards: a free militia that grows with the Town Hall. They join from a later round and refill by themselves.
  • Helpers sent by others; see "Help, support and reinforcements".

Protected stock

Part of your warehouse can never be plundered. Upgrade the Warehouse to protect more.

A first defense

Train soldiers, upgrade the walls and towers, and choose a stance when a battle begins. A balanced mix of Swordsmen, Archers and Musketeers is a good start.

Pirate raids

Once your Town Hall reaches a set level, pirates raid your main city every few hours. You get a warning first. Your navy meets them at sea; they land anyway, but lose soldiers under fire. If you repel them you earn a reward, including gems. If you lose, part of your unprotected stock is taken. Switch raids off in Settings › Game.

Newbie protection

A city with a low Town Hall and a young account cannot be attacked. It ends when the level or age limit is reached, or when you attack, send a spy or free another player's city.

Vacation mode and quiet hours

At the end of War center › Defense you find both.

  • Vacation mode: while it lasts nobody can attack, spy on or blockade your cities, and you cannot attack, spy or help. Production and training go on. It has a minimum length and a limited allowance per period, and cannot be started while armies are out or an attack is coming.
  • Quiet hours: during the hours you choose, war alerts are not sent to your phone. Battles still go on.

Stances for the defender are explained in "Live battles, rounds and stances".

Occupation

Occupying means keeping a city instead of plundering it. Its production flows to you, and you can use it as a forward base.

How to occupy

Use Plan attack and choose "Occupy". You need land and air units, and at least one land unit must survive the battle. Some cities cannot be occupied (newbie protection or too low a Town Hall). If occupation is not possible, the city is plundered and the reason is shown.

Occupation rights

You can hold only a limited number of cities at once. The window shows "Occupation rights: used/max". Expeditions on the way and in battle count too. The planner warns you, and "My occupations" lets you end one to free a slot.

What the owner sees

The owner can no longer switch to the city. Its production goes to you, nothing is built or trained there, and no goods go in or out.

Managing an occupied city

Open the city switcher and pick the city under "Occupied by you". You see the city read-only: tapping a building shows information, but you cannot upgrade, demolish or move anything. The Occupation window ("Manage") has:

  • Garrison: the troops holding the city.
  • Stash: the city's production piles up here, based on its level. "Send ships" carries goods to your cities, and "Train" uses them to train troops. Troops trained here count toward the city that made the occupation. Ships cannot be trained.
  • "Deploy troops": send more soldiers, with no limit.
  • "Recall troops": take soldiers back. "Recall all" keeps the occupation going with no garrison.
  • "Attack from here": land and air troops can start expeditions from the city.
  • "End occupation": troops go home and the stash comes by ship. If the ships cannot carry it, you may leave it behind.

Relief

The city's owner or a member of the owner's clan can send a relief expedition with "Liberate city". Their troops fight the occupier, with no walls or towers on either side. Win and the city is free, and the stash is lost. With no garrison, relief wins without a fight. While a relief battle runs you cannot recall troops or ship the stash, but you can still end the occupation.

No garrison and long occupations

An occupation with no garrison produces nothing and ends after a while. An occupation can also end by itself in other cases, such as a local rebellion after a long time. The card shows the time left. Upkeep problems end occupations too.

Harbor blockade

A blockade closes an enemy harbor with warships and zeppelins. It hurts the target's trade and makes landings cheaper for everyone.

How to blockade

  1. Plan attack on a village and choose "Blockade the harbor".
  2. Pick warships and zeppelins only. Troops cannot go on a blockade; send them on a separate expedition.
  3. Send. If the defender has a navy, a sea battle comes first. If you win, or there is no navy, your ships stay at the port.

Small cities cannot be blockaded: the target needs a minimum Town Hall level, and the planner tells you. A harbor can only have one blockade.

What it does

  • The defender's ships and harbor cannons fall silent.
  • Cargo ships cannot leave. Shipments, market sales, gifts and automatic shipments wait. Soldiers can still sail out armed.
  • Market offers from the city are closed and its stock stops refilling.
  • Help cannot arrive by sea. Troops from the same island can still walk in.
  • Later land attacks, by anyone, land without losses.
  • Cargo that arrives at the port is caught as a prize, up to a limit per blockade and per day. When you lift the blockade the prize sails home with your ships. If the port is freed while you hold it, the prize is lost.

Upkeep

Your blockading ships cost extra upkeep while they hold the port. The blockade lasts until you stop it, so make sure you can pay.

How it ends

  • You tap "Lift blockade, recall ships" in War center › Expeditions.
  • The owner or allies break it with "Relieve harbor": their warships fight yours at sea, and the winner stays.
  • Your upkeep runs out.
  • You stop playing for several days.

Your ships then sail home by themselves.

If someone blockades you, the Harbor shows a notice, and "Relieve harbor" lets you and your clan break it.

Tip: blockade first, then land your troops. The landing is free of losses.

Help, support and reinforcements

You can send your troops to defend another city. Helpers fight beside the owner, and losses are shared by unit type.

Two kinds of help

  • Clan support: for a clanmate. Your troops stay in their city until you recall them or the owner sends them home. They defend it whenever it is attacked, and you can attack nearby villages from there.
  • Emergency help (labelled "Urgent help" in lists): for anyone the owner allows, but only while the city is under threat (an attack is coming or running, or the city is blockaded or occupied). When the threat has been gone for a while, your troops return by themselves.

Freeing a besieged city is a separate kind of help: see "Occupation" and "Harbor blockade".

How to send help

  1. Open the Island tab and tap the village.
  2. Tap "Send help".
  3. Pick the troops and send. Ships carry them when the island is far; on the same island they march.

Limits apply: a number of helping players per city, a population cap for all helpers, a minimum group size and a number of helps you can send at once. A blockaded harbor cannot be reached by sea. You cannot help a city you are attacking.

Who may help you

In War center › Defense, "Who can help me" has three choices: Everyone, My clan and Nobody. Help already in your city stays; Nobody only stops new help.

Your own attack or occupation

  • Your own attack: tap "Send reinforcements" on the village. The second force joins the running battle at the next round.
  • Your own occupation: use "Deploy troops".
  • A clanmate's occupation: your troops join it, defend it if someone comes to free the city, and stay under your command.

Recalling

Tap "Recall my help" to bring your troops home. Troops in a battle leave at the end of the round. An owner can use "Send home" to dismiss helpers.

Upkeep

Helping troops stay yours: you pay their upkeep as if they were at home, and more while they travel. If you cannot pay, help posts are among the first missions to end.

Clans and the Clan Castle

A clan is a team of captains who play together. Clanmates speed up each other's construction, send resources and troops, share a Clan Army and fight side by side.

What you need

Clans open with the Clan Castle, a building in your capital. It unlocks at a certain Town Hall level; the Clan window tells you which one. Build it on an empty plot, then tap it to open the Clan window. A higher Castle level means more helps per construction and bigger resource requests.

Join a clan

  1. Tap the Clan Castle, or the Clan button near the bottom of the City screen.
  2. On the "Clans" tab, browse the list. Clans close to your island are marked "Nearby".
  3. Tap a clan to read its description and see its members.
  4. Tap "Join" or "Apply".

Open clans let you in at once. Approval clans pass your application to the leaders; you can "Withdraw" it. Closed clans take nobody. Some also ask for a minimum Town Hall level.

Create a clan

Open the "Create clan" tab. Pick a name, a short tag (letters or digits), a banner colour and icon, a description, the entry type and the minimum Town Hall level. Founding costs gold taken from your capital; the price is on the button. You become the Leader.

Roles

The roles are Member, Senior, Co-Leader and Leader. Seniors accept applications, post announcements and mark clan targets. Co-Leaders also change the clan settings, plan joint attacks, declare clan wars and spend the treasury. Only the Leader can hand over leadership. You can promote, demote or remove only players below your own rank.

Inside the Clan window

  • Help: tap "Ask clan for help" on a construction or research, request resources, or request troops for your castle. Those troops defend your capital and cost no upkeep. Tap "Help all" to answer clanmates; helping earns honor.
  • Clan Army: donate troops to the shared army. Donations cannot be taken back.
  • Treasury: donate resources. Leaders spend them on clan technologies.
  • Shop: spend your honor on chests, a Construction Decree and more. Every item has a daily limit.
  • Chat: talk to your clan. The Log lists joins, donations and war events.

Honor is yours alone. The clan level belongs to everyone and grows when members help, donate and win; a higher level means more members and a bigger Clan Army.

Leaving

Choose "Leave clan". The window tells you what will happen first. You must wait a while before joining another clan, and you cannot leave while your troops are out on a joint attack.

Tip: ask for construction help whenever you start a long build; every help shortens the timer. To defend a clanmate, see "Help and support".

Joint attacks and clan war

A joint attack lets your whole clan hit one target together. A clan war pits your clan against another clan for stars.

Joint attack

Leaders and Co-Leaders plan it in the Clan window, on the "Joint attack" tab:

  1. Tap "Plan a new joint attack" and pick the village to attack. Clan targets and nearby villages are listed first.
  2. Choose how to attack: Land attack (land and air units carried by the clan's transport ships), Naval attack (warships only) or Naval + land.
  3. Choose how long members may pledge troops.
  4. Set how many of each troop you need. "Calculate for me" fills a suggestion. You can also limit how much one person may send, and add troops from the Clan Army.
  5. Tap "Start gathering troops".

Members open the same tab and tap "Pledge my troops", then choose how many of each troop they will send. Your troops do not leave at once. They set out from your city when the time is up, so you may train more until then. You can change your pledge with "Save changes" or take it back with "Withdraw".

The attack goes through the steps Gathering, En route, Returning and Done. If too few troops are pledged, it is cancelled and the travel cost goes back to the treasury. A leader can also tap "Launch without waiting" once enough troops are gathered. Losses are shared, and the loot is shared in proportion to the troops each member sent. While your troops are out, you cannot leave the clan.

Clan war

A leader opens the "Clan war" tab and taps "Declare war" on another clan. A war has three phases: Preparation, War day and Concluded. On war day the enemy clan's villages are marked as enemies on the island screen. Beating them earns stars: a land victory earns more than a naval victory, a joint attack multiplies the stars, and there is a limit per village. The clan with the most stars wins a reward for the treasury and clan points.

The tab also shows island dominance: the clan with the most villages on an island rules it and boosts the island facilities of its members.

Clan front and target marks

The clan front is a card in the War Center, on the Defense tab, in online worlds. It lists attacks against your clanmates, the battles they fight and the relief battles, so you know where to help.

To mark a target, open the island screen, tap the village and choose "Mark as clan target". Clanmates see a "Clan target" label, and the mark fades after a day.

The clan altar is explained in the Temple section.

Market and trading

The Market lets you buy what you lack and sell your surplus. Open it by tapping the Market building. Until you build one, only Quick trade at the Harbor is open.

The tabs

  • Buy: merchants of the islands offer goods. Pick a resource and an amount. Offers are sorted from the cheapest, and each one shows the island, the distance, the arrival time and a label: Bargain, Fair or Pricey. "Buy the best" collects the cheapest offers for you.
  • Sell: merchants ask for goods. Pick a resource and sell. Your own cargo ships carry the goods, so you need a free ship. Gold arrives with the ship.
  • Stall: put goods up at your own price. Buyers come in rounds, and the window shows your chance to sell. Higher prices sell more slowly. You can take the goods back.
  • Orders: purchases and sales on the way, goods waiting at the Harbor, and recent trades.
  • Trade: Quick trade swaps one resource for another instantly, for a merchant fee.

How buying works

You pay when you buy, and a merchant ship brings the goods to your warehouse. If the warehouse is full, the goods wait at the Harbor and move in when there is room; if you never make room, they are lost. You can pay gems to finish a delivery at once. Whenever a window says you lack a resource, look for the buy shortcut next to it, for example "Buy Marble". It opens the Market with the missing amount ready.

Allowance, commission and range

Buying, selling, the stall and Quick trade all use the same daily trade allowance, counted in gold value. It renews every day and is smaller in a colony. The top of the Market window shows what is left, your commission and your view range. A higher Market level lowers the commission and widens the range. Offers outside your range cannot be traded.

Prices

Prices depend on the resource and the distance. The window shows today's price and a short price history. Quick trade is instant, but it charges a merchant fee, so Market offers are often cheaper. On Merchant day the fee is very low. Villages you blockade or occupy no longer offer goods.

Favorites

Tap the star on an island to keep its offers at the top of the list.

Tip: compare an offer with Quick trade before buying. The window tells you how much cheaper or dearer it is.

Tip: keep some allowance for emergencies; all trades share it.

Harbor, fleet and shipments

The Harbor is your gateway to the sea. Tap it to open a window with the tabs Merchant, Fleet, Shipments and Colony.

Fleet

Ships carry your goods between your own cities. The Cargo Ship is bought with gold. The Galleon holds the most and is bought with gems. Open the Fleet tab, find the shipyard section and tap "Buy". Every ship has a capacity and some troop slots, which are used when it carries soldiers. You can upgrade a ship: each level raises its capacity, and the level table shows the cost. A ship on duty can be upgraded when it returns.

Harbor level

The Harbor has its own level. A higher level shortens the loading time of ships, of Market trades and of colony expeditions. The window shows the loading time now and at the next level. Upgrading uses a builder like any building.

Shipments

You need at least two cities and one ship.

  1. Open the Shipments tab and tap "New shipment".
  2. Choose where to: each city card shows the distance and the sailing time.
  3. Pick the goods. "Fill warehouse" and "Clear all" help.
  4. Check the summary and tap "Set sail".

The ships load, sail, drop the goods and come back empty. The tab shows each step with a progress bar. "Repeat last shipment" fills in the same order again. If the target warehouse would overflow, the window warns you: the cargo is still delivered, but that resource stops being produced while the warehouse is over its limit.

Automatic shipping

With a premium pack you can create tasks that send goods by themselves, for example from a colony to your capital. In the Shipments tab, find "Auto shipping" and tap "New auto task". Choose the destination, the goods, the amount per round, whether to leave "As it piles up" or "Hourly", a reserve to keep, and the largest number of ships. Tasks take turns and repeat, even while you are away. When the premium pack ends, tasks pause but are not deleted.

Blockaded harbor

If an enemy blockades your Harbor, soldiers can still sail out, but goods cannot. Shipments, Market trades and gifts wait until the blockade ends. See "Blockade" for how it ends.

Tip: speed-up cards shorten shipments.

Tip: keep one ship free for Market sales.

Colonies and moving cities

A colony is a new city you build from scratch on another island. It has its own Town Hall, buildings and warehouse. In a colony you can build the specialty building of its island (for example a marble quarry or an oil well) and make goods your home island lacks. You carry those goods to your other cities by ship.

Colony rights

You may own only as many colonies as you have rights. Rights come from your Town Hall level and from your Clan Castle level; the Clan Castle rights make a war colony, a good forward base. The table below shows the levels. The Harbor's Colony tab shows how many rights you use and when the next one opens.

Found a colony

  1. Open the World screen, or the Harbor's Colony tab and tap "New colony: pick an island on the map".
  2. Tap an island with an orange ring. It must have a free colony slot.
  3. In the expedition window, read the distance, the time and the cost. The cost rises with every colony.
  4. Choose goods to take along. You need at least one free cargo ship: it carries the goods and returns. The colony starts with an empty warehouse, so only the goods you carry will be there. If you take nothing, it starts with zero of everything.
  5. Tap "Start expedition".

When the expedition arrives, a Town Hall level 1 city appears. Tap "Name it", or open "Your cities" from the city pill near the top left, to give it a name. You switch between cities in the same window.

Recall or remove

While the expedition is at sea you can "Recall" it: part of the cost returns and the right is free again. Later you can "Abandon colony" from the Colony tab. The city and everything in it is lost, so move your goods out first.

Make a colony your capital

In "Your cities", open a colony's menu and choose "Make capital". The old capital becomes a colony, and your ships move to the new capital's Harbor. This is allowed only when nothing important is on the way, such as ships at sea, expeditions or Market orders, and there is a waiting time between moves.

Move a city

In "Your cities", open the city's menu and choose "Move". It costs gems. Pick an island that is ringed. Buildings, resources, the army and ships move with the city. You cannot move during an attack, blockade, occupation or running research, and you must wait before moving again.

Tip: found colonies early; their specialty resources unlock the strongest buildings.

Town hall levels that give a colony right: 9 · 12 · 15 · 17 · 18 · 19 · 20 · 22

Clan Castle levels that give a war colony right: 12 · 18

The tables show this version's default values. The guide inside the game always shows the current values.

Moving troops between your cities

You can send soldiers from one of your cities to another. This is useful to guard a colony, to gather an army in one place or to help a city that is under attack.

How to send troops

  1. Open the War Center. On the Army tab, each city card has "Send to another city". On the Defense tab, a city under attack has "Send troops from another city".
  2. In the "Send troops" window, choose the city the troops leave from and the city they go to.
  3. Pick the troops and ships you want to send. The window shows the travel time and the free room at the destination.
  4. Tap "Send troops".

Travel

On the same island, land troops walk. To another island, land troops need free cargo ships, which drop them and return. Warships sail by themselves and zeppelins fly. The journey lasts as long as the slowest part. You can recall troops while they are on the way.

On arrival

The troops join the army of the destination city. They are not a separate force. If that city is in a defense battle, they join the fight at the start of the next round.

What can stop it

The window explains the reason in plain words. These are common ones:

  • The troops must be idle in the source city.
  • Troops cannot leave a city that is occupied or under siege until the battle ends.
  • You cannot send troops to an occupied city; relieve it instead.
  • If the destination harbor is blockaded, troops cannot come by sea, but they can walk from the same island.
  • The destination needs free army room.
  • Another island needs enough free cargo ships.

While troops are on the way they count as being on an expedition, so the city they left still pays their upkeep. After arrival, the destination city pays.

Tip: send help before the enemy arrives. Troops that arrive during a round wait for the next one.

Tip: to help a clanmate's city instead, see "Help and support". For the army itself, see "Army".

Spies and intelligence

Spies let you look inside another village before you attack: its stores, its defenders, its buildings and the attacks it is planning.

The Intelligence Agency

Build the Intelligence Agency in your capital. It unlocks at a certain Town Hall level. Each level adds one spy slot, and only the agency in your capital counts. The Espionage research at the University makes your spies better.

Train a spy

Open the agency. On the "Spies" tab tap "Train spy". Training costs gold and takes time. A caught spy frees its slot. You can "Dismiss" a spy, but the cost is not refunded.

Send a spy

  1. Open the Island screen and tap a village.
  2. Tap "Send spy". The card shows your chance to slip in and the journey time.
  3. Wait for the spy to arrive. It tries to slip in. The chance is higher if your agency is strong and lower if the target has an agency or spies on guard. If the target has no agency, it is almost certain.

A spy that is caught while slipping in is lost.

Missions

A spy that is inside waits on the "Missions" tab. Choose a mission: Storehouse report (what could be plundered), Garrison report (defending troops, walls and towers), Building report, or Campaign watch (attacks the village will launch soon). Each shows its risk of capture. Doing many missions at the same village within an hour adds risk. Some reports are only close estimates.

Reports

The "Reports" tab keeps everything: successful reports, captured spies and foreign spies. In online worlds the information comes from the game server, so it matches the real village. In the attack planner, the target’s army and battle forecast appear only with a garrison report from the last 6 hours, and its lootable goods only with a depot report from the last 2 hours; without one you get a “Send spy” button.

Foreign spies

Spies you keep at home stand on guard. If a foreign spy is caught in your city, you get a report. A caught spy may talk. If one of yours talks, you only see a mysterious message that someone said a few things about you.

Tip: send a spy before a big attack.

Tip: you cannot spy on your own city or on clanmates.

Temple, prayer and clan altar

The Temple lets you pray once a day and receive a blessing for the city that prayed. Every city that has a Temple prays on its own.

How to pray

  1. Tap the Temple and press "Pray".
  2. Three covered cards appear, and their rarity shows first.
  3. Tap the card you want. It turns over and shows the blessing. The other cards are shown too, so you see what you left.
  4. The blessing starts at once and lasts a set time, usually 24 hours.

A new day starts at 00:00 game time. If you leave without choosing, your cards wait for you. A new prayer in the same city replaces the old blessing.

Blessings

  • Bounty: more production.
  • Master Hands: faster construction.
  • Drill: faster training.
  • God of War: stronger attacks.
  • Shield: stronger walls and towers.
  • Fair Wind: faster voyages and shipments.
  • Well-Fed Army: lower army upkeep.
  • Merchant: lower Market fee.
  • Treasure: more protected storage.
  • Sage: faster research.

A blessing belongs to the city that prayed. Sage works for the whole account, and only the strongest Sage of your cities counts.

Rarity and Temple level

Each card is Common, Rare or Legendary, and a rarer card is stronger. The higher your Temple level, the stronger every blessing is and the better your chance of Rare and Legendary cards. The table below shows the strength range of each blessing at each Temple level.

Refreshes, streak and bad luck

Before you choose, "Refresh" shows three new cards for gems. You have a limited number of refreshes per day, and each costs more than the last. Pray on consecutive days: after a full streak, one of your cards is Legendary. If many days pass without a Rare card, the next prayer guarantees one.

Clan altar

When a clan member prays, a candle is lit on the clan altar. Open it from the Temple's "Altar" button or the "Altar" tab of the Clan Castle. When enough candles burn, every member who prayed gets a clan blessing in all their cities until the day ends. Members who lit a candle vote for the day's intent: War, Bounty, Road or Fortress. The most votes win. If everyone prays, each member also gets a speed-up card. Altars open only in clans with enough members.

Tip: pray every day; even a short visit keeps the streak.

The tables show this version's default values. The guide inside the game always shows the current values.

Quests and rewards

Quests guide you through the game and pay rewards: resources, speed-up cards and, for important goals, gems.

The quest chain

At the bottom left of the City screen a small strip shows your next goal, for example "Quest · Build a Farm". If the goal has a counter, the strip shows the count. Tap the strip to open the "Quests" window. You can also open it from Profile › Quick access › Quests.

  1. Read the description, the progress bar and the reward.
  2. Tap "Go". The game takes you to the place where you can do it.
  3. When the goal is done, the strip turns gold and says "Claim reward". Tap it, or tap "Claim reward" in the window.
  4. The next quest appears.

Finished quests are listed under "Completed". The first quests teach the basics. Later ones ask for bigger things such as research, colonies and wars.

Clan quests

A separate "Clan quests" section sits in the same window. These teach the clan features. They never block the main chain, so do them in any order.

Daily quests

"Today's quests" gives a few small goals every day, such as producing, training or trading. They reset when a new game day starts. Claim each one when its bar is full.

Achievements

Achievements are long-term goals, such as total victories or total trades. When several are ready, tap "Claim all".

Daily reward

Log in every day to collect a gift. When it is ready, a Daily reward button appears next to the Clan, War and Telegraph buttons. Open it and tap "Claim reward". The rewards follow a 7-day cycle: each day is better, and every 7th day includes gems. The amounts grow with your Town Hall. If you miss a day, the streak starts again from day 1, so log in daily.

What you receive

  • Resources for your city.
  • Speed-up cards. Quests give the small ones (5 minutes, 15 minutes and 1 hour); longer ones are bought with gems.
  • Gems from important quests, such as ships, shipments, colonies, war and naming your city.

Tip: use speed-up cards from quests on long constructions, where they save the most time.

Tip: if you are stuck, "Go" always shows the next step. For the cards themselves, see "Gems, cards and Shop".

Gems, cards and Shop

Gems are the special currency of Clash Of Guild. Your gem count is at the top of the screen. Tap it, or open Profile › Quick access › Shop, to enter the Shop.

What gems are for

  • Speed-up cards of 2, 4 and 8 hours.
  • Extra builders.
  • Galleons, the biggest ships, and their upgrades.
  • Refreshing the Temple cards.
  • Moving a building to another plot, and moving a whole city.
  • Finishing a Market delivery at once.
  • Premium packs.

No speeding up with gold

Gold cannot finish a job early. Every timed job (construction, training, research, voyages, deliveries) has a "Speed up" button. It opens the card window. A card cuts that much from the timer. If the card is longer than the time left, the job ends and the window tells you how much time is wasted. "Use suggested" picks a good card for you.

Cards of 5 minutes, 15 minutes and 1 hour come from quests. The Shop sells the 2, 4 and 8 hour cards for gems. Cards belong to your account, so you can use them in any city. Cards shorten travel and waiting, but not battle rounds.

Builders

The number of builders is the number of constructions you can run at once. In the Shop, the Builders card lets you "Hire" one more with gems. New builder slots open as your Town Hall grows, and every new builder costs more. The card tells you what opens next.

Premium packs

The Shop's "Premium" tab lists packs. A pack lasts a number of days and makes the game more comfortable. Depending on the pack, you get:

  • shorter construction, training, research, travel and shipping times
  • more production, lower army upkeep and bigger storage
  • an extra builder
  • a build queue: the next job starts by itself when a builder and the resources are free
  • automatic shipping tasks in every city

Packs never add battle strength. The same effect from several packs does not add up; the highest counts. Buying the same pack again adds days. The days left show next to your gem count.

How to earn gems

  • Quests that ask for ships, shipments, colonies or wars.
  • The 7th day of the daily reward.
  • Beating back pirate raids.
  • Weekly ranking prizes and invites.
  • A one-time gift for linking your account.
  • The Gem Pouch in the clan Shop.

Gem packs for real money are being prepared. When they open, they will appear in the Shop.

Tip: save gems for builders and the 8 hour cards before small things.

Rankings, weekly prizes and invites

Rankings show where you stand among the captains of your world. Open them from Profile › Quick access › Ranking. Every world has its own lists.

The seven boards

  • Points: Town Halls, walls, buildings and colonies of all your cities.
  • Military: the strength of all your troops, at home and on expeditions.
  • Donations: gold you gave to island facilities.
  • Clans: the total points of each clan's members. Tap a clan to see its members.
  • Invites: friends who joined with your invite and reached the goal.
  • Weekly invites: invites that became valid this week.
  • Weekly activity: time in game and things you do this week.

Your own place is always shown at the bottom of the list. Tap a player to visit their island. If two players are tied, the one who got there first ranks higher.

Weekly boards and prizes

Two boards are weekly, and top players win prizes. The week runs from Monday 00:00 to Sunday 23:59, game time (UTC+3). On the weekly boards, "This week" shows the live list and the time left, and "Last week" shows the final results. Prizes are gems and speed-up cards. They are sent by themselves when the week closes, and you receive a letter in your telegraph inbox and a notification. The "Prizes" list shows what each rank wins.

Weekly activity counts minutes in the game and your actions: starting builds, training troops, victories, research, clan help, trades, shipments, donations and speed-up cards. Each part has a weekly limit, so playing in many ways wins.

Invite friends

Open Profile › Quick access › Invite. You have a personal invite code of 7 characters, a web link and a Telegram link. Tap "Copy" or "Share" to send them.

Your friend enters your code on joining, or later in "Got an invite code?" during the first days. An invite counts when your friend reaches a certain Town Hall level and plays for a certain time. The window shows both numbers and your invites as Waiting, Valid or In review. When it counts, you receive a reward and so does your friend.

A player who joins with your invite settles on your island if there is room, and otherwise on the nearest island with free places, so friends can play close together.

Tip: you cannot use your own code, and fake invites do not count.

Tip: for friends and telegraphs, see "Friends, telegraphs and gifts".

Friends, telegraphs and gifts

Friends make it easy to message each other and play together. Telegraphs are the in-game letters.

Friends

Friendship needs both sides to agree. Open Profile › Quick access › Friends. It has three tabs: "Friends", "Requests" and "Add".

  1. On "Add", search for players of your world and tap "Request". You can also tap a player's village or card and choose "Add friend".
  2. The other player sees your request on their "Requests" tab and taps "Accept" or "Decline". You can "Withdraw" a request you sent.
  3. After acceptance, the player is on your "Friends" list with their city, level, an online dot and the time last seen.

From a friend's row you can send a telegraph, go to their island or "Remove" them. The list has a size limit.

Telegraphs

Open the Telegraph button near the bottom of the City screen, or Profile › Quick access › Telegraphs. The "Inbox" and "Sent" tabs hold your letters, and a badge counts unread ones.

  1. Tap "Write".
  2. Pick the recipient. Search by name; friends and clanmates are suggested first. In online worlds you telegraph your friends and clanmates, so make friends first.
  3. Add an optional subject and write the message.
  4. Tap "Send".

Open a letter to read it, then "Reply" or delete it. "Mark all as read" clears the badge. In "Sent", each letter shows Delivered and the time it was seen. A bulk telegraph shows how many people saw it.

A bulk telegraph goes to your whole clan, or only the members you choose. Choose "To clan" when writing, or tap "Bulk telegraph" in the Clan window. It is separate from the clan chat, and it needs at least one other member.

Forbidden words are blocked, and sending many telegraphs quickly is limited. Rule-breakers can be muted.

Sending goods as a gift

On a player's village card, "Send goods" opens the gift window. Your cargo ships carry the goods to any player, whether clanmate, rival or neighbour. Pick the goods; the window shows how much you can still send today, the free ship room, the travel time and what the receiver gets after the harbor fee. Tap "Send". The daily limit is shared with clan sending. A harbor fee is taken on the way. Villages that are blockaded or occupied cannot receive goods.

Sending goods to other players is not available in online worlds yet; the game tells you so if you try. To move goods between your own cities, use the Harbor's Shipments tab.

Tip: reply to a telegraph; a quick thanks builds good friendships.

Maps, top bar and movements

The game has three main views, chosen with the tabs at the bottom: City, Island and World. The fourth tab is your Profile. Drag to move around, and pinch with two fingers, scroll or double-tap to zoom.

City

This is your own city. Tap an empty plot to build and tap a building to open it. Plates on the buildings show their names and levels.

The top bar

  • Resources: tap one to see how much is stored, the hourly production and when it will be full or empty. A hint tells you if the resource is made only on other islands.
  • Builders: shows free and total builders. Tap it to see the constructions and the queue.
  • City pill: shows the city you are playing. Tap it to open "Your cities", where you switch between your capital and colonies, rename a city, make a colony your capital or move a city.
  • Gems: shows your gems and premium days. Tap it to open the Shop.
  • Near the bottom: the quest strip and the Clan, War and Telegraph buttons.

Island

This is the island your city stands on. Tap a neighbour's village to open its card: attack, send a spy, send help, send a telegraph, add a friend or mark it as a clan target. The Island Mine and the Logging Camp are shared by everyone on the island. Donate gold to raise their level and everyone's production grows.

Village names show colours: yours is navy with a star, clanmates are green, enemy clans are red and others are grey. Fire marks a village in battle, and chains mark a blockaded harbor. Marches on the island are drawn on the roads and everyone can see them. Tap one for its card.

World

Here you see the other islands and captains. Tap an island for its card, with the distance and free places. Buttons on the side open the island list (search by island, number, city or captain), the Harbor, the Movements list and "Back to my island".

Movements

The Movements list shows everything on the move: attacks, stationed troops, clan operations, shipments, colony expeditions and Market orders. The most urgent are first. Tap a row to open its mission card. It shows the phase (Preparing, En route, At target or Returning) and times. Use "Go to target" to see it on the map, "Recall" to turn it back when allowed, and "Speed up" to use a card. Cards shorten only the journey.

Tip: check Movements after sending anything, to see when it arrives.

Tip: for the city's buildings, see "Buildings"; for building queues, see "Construction".

Community rules and safety

Clash Of Guild is a friendly game for everyone. These rules apply to player and village names, clan names and descriptions, telegraphs and clan chat.

Be a good captain

  • Be respectful, even to your rivals. Rivalry belongs on the battlefield.
  • Help new players and share what you have learned.
  • Keep your personal information (address, phone number, passwords) to yourself, and never ask others for theirs.

Not allowed

  • Insults, harassment, threats and bullying.
  • Hate speech or discrimination because of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or nationality.
  • Sexual content, and any content that sexualises minors.
  • Violent extremism, illegal content, scams, spam and advertising.
  • Pretending to be another player or one of our staff.
  • Selling or trading accounts or in-game items for real money.

Report a player

Open a telegraph, long-press a clan chat message or open a player's card, then tap "Report". Choose a reason (insults, hate speech, sexual content, spam or scam, offensive name, cheating, child safety or something else) and add a note if you like. You can also tick "Also block this player". Tap "Send report" and the reported content goes to our moderators.

Block a player

Tap "Block" in the same places. You will no longer see that player's telegraphs, chat messages or friend requests. To undo it, open Profile › Settings › Blocked players and tap "Unblock".

What moderators do

Moderators review every report. Depending on how serious it is, they may remove content, rename an account, warn, mute telegraphs, or suspend an account for a while or for good.

Child safety

We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation, including grooming and any sexualised content involving minors. Such accounts are closed permanently and, where the law requires, reported to the authorities. To report a concern, use the in-game "Report" button with the reason "Child safety", or write to support@clashofguild.com with the subject "Child safety".

More help

The full rules are on our website at clashofguild.com/community, and in the game at Profile › Settings › Legal and help. You can write to us any time at support@clashofguild.com.

Tip: if someone bothers you, block first, report second. Both take seconds.

Frequently asked questions

I lost my village. What now?

Sign in again with the method you linked in Profile › Account (Google Play Games, Google, Apple or Telegram). A village that was never linked lives only on that device. In that case, write to support with your old player ID if you know it.

How do I move to a new phone?

Link your account first in Profile › Account. On the new phone, install the game and sign in with the same method. Your village opens where you left it.

How do I change the language?

Open Profile › Settings › Language. The game starts in your device's language.

My notifications do not arrive.

Open Profile › Settings. Turn on phone notifications (browser notifications on the web), check the switches for each type and the quiet hours, and check your phone's own settings. Battery saving can delay alerts by minutes. In a browser, only announcements arrive while the game is closed.

Why can I not upgrade a building?

Common reasons: all builders are busy, a resource is missing, or the building would pass your Town Hall level. The window shows the reason. A premium build queue can line up the next job.

My warehouse is full.

When a resource reaches the warehouse limit, its production stops. Spend it, or build and upgrade a Warehouse. Goods arriving by ship wait at the Harbor until there is room, and are lost if you never make room.

Why can I not attack a village?

The message in the attack window tells you. Common reasons: new-player protection, the village is your clanmate's, it is on vacation, it is already occupied, you have no free cargo ship for the troops, or the army is too small.

My troops disappeared.

Soldiers eat every hour. When the resource they need runs out, part of the army is disbanded. Check the hourly production and the time to empty in the resource details. The Army Camp level and premium packs lower the upkeep.

Where is my cargo?

Open the Harbor's Shipments tab or the Movements list. Market purchases are in the Market's Orders tab. A blockaded harbor holds goods until the blockade ends.

How do I get gems?

Mainly through quests, the daily reward, pirate raids and weekly prizes. See "Gems, cards and Shop".

The game reloaded and my last action was lost.

The same account was probably played on another device, and the save from there was loaded. Use one device at a time.

Why can I not join a clan?

You need a Clan Castle in your capital. The clan may be full, closed or ask for a higher Town Hall level. You also must wait after leaving a clan or being removed from one.

Someone is insulting me.

Open the message or the player's card, then tap "Report" and "Block". See "Community rules and safety".

How do I contact support or delete my account?

Write to support@clashofguild.com with your player ID (Profile › Account, it starts with p-), your device, the game version (Profile › Settings › About) and a screenshot if you can. We usually reply within 2 business days. To delete your account, open Profile › Account › Delete account.
